I wanted to first share that the ATOA Executive Board will be meeting June 17th, 2016 at the Shelby County Training Center at 1000. The EB will be finalizing the upcoming conference (ATOC-16) which will be held in Columbiana, Alabama. We have several new programs coming up this year with everything from tactical ropes, to armored rescue vehicles, medic based tracks, and expanded sniper tracks. We are even teaming up with NTOA’s Kevan Dugan who is a lead instructor for the command tracks. He will be coming in to do a two day commander’s course that will parallel some of the things the NTOA is doing with their new command college. We have the guys from Redback One coming in to do a night-vision operators course and there will be many other exciting training opportunities.
The ATOA EB voted at the last meeting to raise our membership rates to allow for a higher level of service, accountability, and benefits to our members. We are finalizing the new membership packages which will include a membership card with unique member’s code to be redeemed on ATOA exclusive discounts with many of our vendors. ESEE Knives, Gulf States Distributors, Ed’s Public Safety, and Way of the Gun are just a few of our partners that have agreed to participate. The discounts available will more than make up for the increase to membership costs. Also included in the package will be an ATOA patch with rockers detailing your membership level and year. The patches will change every year hitting the spectrum of colors and types. A certificate of membership and an ATOA sticker will also be included so you can help spread the word to others. That’s just touching the surface of what is to come.
The new ATOA website will include functionality that is state of the art with security protocols to protect your data. You will be able to create user profiles and participate in secure forums so we can pass information freely. The ATOA store is being stocked with items that you can buy off the website and a few one off things that members will be able to get at discounted prices. We partnered with ESEE Knives and ATOA engraved knives will be sold in our store. We will cover all of these things at the conference and make sure we walk you through all the benefits.
The upcoming meeting will include one of the most innovative concepts we have fostered to date. We will be reviewing a system that was created to protect our members and build sound training relationships. We are calling it the Tactical Training Verification and Approval Process (TacTVAPs) or for short the VAPs system. This process is like no other and will hopefully set a standard for others to follow. The executive board will be holding and open session to vote for this program to be added as amendment 7 and 7a to the ATOA Bi-laws. The integration of the new website, our partnerships, and the VAPs system will provide a sound basis for the future of the ATOA and lead to many discounted, if not free, training opportunities for our members. The ATOA is moving forward in a very dynamic way. Thank you for your support and stay tuned.
