The
New ATOA President A message from the outgoing President The new ATOA President for 2009-2011 is Shane Mayfield with the Chilton County Sheriff’s Office. I am sure that all know Shane and will support him 100%. I have made many new friends in ATOA and will always be available to assist at anytime. As my career nears its end with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office I strongly believe that now more than ever the TEAMS must stay at the top of their game. We must train more and find ways to do it with out funding. Times are going to get a lot worse before we see a light at the end of the tunnel I am afraid. The TEAMS must stand together as one and be ready for what might never happen and pray that it does not, but we must train for the ‘what if’. Push your Operators to new limits. It will pay off when the time comes. In closing, ATOA will always be part of me and a HONOR to have been among your ranks. Always stay SAFE and may God be with us. CPT Mark C. Thompson
From the President: The Muscle Shoals and Florence Police Departments did an outstanding job with the 2007 Conference. All the hard work they done, along with Curt Carpenter, paid off for those who attended. I am very proud to have Officers like these in our ranks. The Conference just re-enforced what I all ready knew about our TEAMS. The State Of Alabama is blessed with the caliber TEAMS that we have. The competition was as much against the elements as it was TEAMS. The rain, wind, mud, and chill did not slow our guys down. It went to the final day with ONE SHOT deciding it all. This Conference was all about what we do and who we are. In my opinion all the TEAMS were winners. We are already planning next years Conference as I write this. Training dates will be posted for the year as we get them. I want to thank everyone involved in ATOA for making this an outstanding year. Let’s strive even harder in the up coming year to get more training to our Officers and to increase the numbers in the ATOA... Stay safe and train hard. Also, in closing, a well done goes
out to Chilton County Sheriff’s Office. Mark Thompson Montgomery County Sheriff's Office ATOA President
